Large-format tiles — generally anything 600x600mm and above — have become one of the most requested products in our showrooms. And it is easy to see why.
The most obvious benefit is fewer grout lines. This creates a sleek, uninterrupted surface that makes rooms feel bigger and cleaner. In bathrooms, fewer grout lines also means less maintenance, since grout is typically the first thing to discolour.
Modern manufacturing has made large-format tiles thinner and lighter than you might expect. Many of our large-format porcelain ranges are just 9-10mm thick, making them manageable for experienced tilers to work with.
They are incredibly versatile. Use them on floors for a seamless, contemporary look. Apply them to walls for a dramatic, minimal effect. Some customers are even using them on kitchen worktops and islands as an alternative to stone.
The key to a successful large-format installation is preparation. The substrate needs to be flat — any unevenness is more noticeable with bigger tiles. We always recommend a professional tiler for large-format work, and we can suggest experienced fitters in your area.
